FOR SALE EXTRAORDINARY HISTORICAL FORMER HACIENDA "EL ARANJUEZ"

The former Hacienda Aranjuez is an old estate located on the border between Tlalixtac de Cabrera and Santo Domingo Tomaltepec, approximately 35 minutes from downtown Oaxaca City. It features a historic and colonial style dating back to the 16th century and is situated on a natural elevation at the foothills of the Sierra Madre, which provides stunning views of the valley and the city.

Haciendas in Oaxaca are rich in historical and cultural significance, during its rise they were economic units whose main activities were agriculture and livestock and were usually owned by a small number of individuals. The vast size of these properties is due to a legal system that protected large landowners, especially during the Porfiriato period in Mexico. Later, the Mexican Revolution led to land redistribution, giving rise to the ejido system and the return of lands to indigenous communities.

El Aranjuez is one of the few remaining haciendas within the central district of the state of Oaxaca that still retains a large portion of its original land. Among the services the hacienda offers are electricity and a telephone line extending to the main building. Water supply is provided through a natural spring (known locally as a lloradero) as a water collection system, in addition to a well. For water storage, there is also a cistern.
