Casa El Poseidon is a 4 year old eco-friendly luxury private residence located in the most upscale neighborhood of Zipolite Beach, just a short walk from the very popular Hotel/Spa Alquimista. The property is on the top of a hill directly above the ocean with constant gentle breezes, a beautiful view of the beach, and close to the best surfing spots.
The unique design of the property provides many options for occupancy and income generation. It can be used as a full time private residence, a turnkey boutique hotel, or a combination of the owners in residence while renting to guests. At the same time, other notable features incorporated into the concept of Casa El Poseidon are: comfort, luxury, eco-conscience, privacy, and security. An incredible amount of high end custom woodwork, windows, cabinets, and furniture were completed by a well known local craftsman. Other high end finishes include: granite countertops, unique tree slab bathroom countertops, onyx fixtures, and a large hand blown chandelier above the stairwell. To prevent salt air corrosion, high quality imported stainless steel fittings were installed throughout the property.
The main house consists of a four story structure with three large private suites each with A/C, high speed internet, TVs, hot showers, ample storage, and a secure safe for valuables. On the first floor, Suite 1 is the lower garden/ocean view suite with a private entrance, full size kitchen, ensuite bathroom, a massive tropical shaded patio with a hammock, seating area and an original mural painted on the back wall.
Continuing up the outdoor staircase, which is lined with tall bamboo providing a living privacy screen, you arrive at the second floor and to the left of the entrance is a tranquil water fountain. As you enter the second floor, on the left is the shared deluxe kitchen with a large storage bodega, bar seating, and on the right is a small seating area. Suite 2 is located on the same floor after the kitchen, along with a full bathroom, large custom storage cabinets, and another storage bodega. The bright indoor staircase leads up to Suite 3.
The third floor is home to the grand Suite 3, with the best ocean views of the house. After coming up the stairs, a very large bathroom is to the right, followed by a separate living room area. Suite 3 is the largest bedroom of the house, with another private seating area and its own office.
At the very top of the main house, the fourth floor Sky Lounge is a communal space which features an obsidian glass black tiled pool with a backdrop waterfall, sunbathing deck, screened in palapa lounge, outdoor shower, and its own bathroom. The views are unbeatable with the beach/ocean on one side, and the contrasting jungle on the opposite. There is plenty of room for the massage table to be set up on either the sundeck or inside the palapa lounge. One could spend the entire day in the Sky Lounge: a dunk in the pool, soak up the sun, cool off under the shaded palapa, mix up cocktails, admire the stars above, and much more! For many of the owner’s visitors, it is their favorite place to pass time while at Casa El Poseidon.
Another unique design aspect of the property is the bottom entrance area. The driveway is a parking area with large, sturdy gates which can accommodate 3 vehicles and motos. Additionally, the property retains 80% of rain water run off by using using “grass bricks” in the driveway, and also prevents erosion of the driveway into the main street. The secure entrance is a separate structure into the property which houses a large Sand & Surf room for storing surfboards and showering off after the beach. It includes lockers, benches, dual sinks, sky lights, and expansive custom made dressing table.
Opposite the Sand & Surf room is a large bodega with a locked caged area for storage, a large Parota bunk bed where a caretaker could live, and the solar panel control center. This lower area also houses the grey water holding tanks, which in turn irrigate the mature gardens of the property. No water is wasted at Casa El Poseidon!
There are so many thoughtful design features it is hard to describe all of them. Here are some additional valuable attributes to Casa El Poseidon:
- Mature landscaping surrounds the securely fenced compound. - An area in the lower area is ready for building a second home near power, water and sewage; the stairs and retaining walls are already surround the future site. - 70% of the property’s electricity is generated by solar, with extra power feeding back to the grid, and storage batteries for when there are power failures. - Water system: 1 pozo/well with 2 rooftop tinacos, 4 interior holding tanks under the lower bodega, solar hot water, existing hook up to the community water system, no Water Trucks (pipas) have been necessary. - Black water flows to an onsite septic system that has never needed to be pumped. - Laundry services are located on the back of the 2nd floor of the main house. - The same staff have been with the property for the past 4 years and are trustworthy. - The gardener (mozo) was on the original construction crew for the house. - Built to endure endure all that nature may bring: 8.2 earthquake caused zero damage, and a direct hit from Hurricane Agatha, with 150 mph winds for 6 hours and floods, Casa El Poseidon had no problems. - Above the storm surge and tsunami zone! |
